Drug and Alcohol Rehab Treatment in Portugal
Our partner drug and alcohol rehab clinics in Portugal started operating in 1995 as a primary care treatment facility and has since expanded to cater to the various other areas of addiction treatment. The treatment facilities are run and managed by accredited professionals and counsellors. The aim is to treat all clients with the dignity and respect they deserve.
The group offers a range of programmes including primary care; secondary care; tertiary care; outpatient programmes; and employee wellness programmes. Based on 12 step abstinence programmes, integrated treatment schedules include screening and assessment, medical assessment, one-on-one counselling, group therapy, addiction education, re-integration programmes, fitness and health care, relapse prevention, family groups and therapy, as well as aftercare support programmes and access to Narcotics and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
Family involvement is an integral part of all the Group programmes, optimising the ongoing effectiveness of treatment, as well as promoting a greater understanding of addiction within the family unit and contributing to an overall treatment solution.
Primary Care Centre
The Primary Care Centre offers a 42-day residential treatment programme plus two weeks of aftercare where the client attends our centre as a day patient. The centre provides clients with a safe environment for detoxification, allowing them the time and care to deal with all aspects of their addiction. Each client receives a comprehensive and individual-specific treatment plan.
A dedicated multi-disciplinary team will ensure that clients are given professional, specialised individual care and the peace of mind that they are in capable and compassionate hands. A variety of therapeutic models are used to facilitate the recovery process – these include Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and 12-Step Facilitation. An integrated holistic approach is used including nutrition, exercise, therapeutic duties, leisure and sporting activities. The Primary Care Centre is situated in a magnificent, leafy suburb of Portugal.
The centre’s facilities include:
- Gym equipment
- Sauna
- Swimming pool
- Table tennis
- Tennis court
- Tuck-shop
- Volleyball
Secondary Care Centre
The secondary care facility allows individuals additional time to deal with addiction and its related disorders in a structured and nurturing community environment by providing a long term (13 weeks) residential treatment programme.
The core emphasis of this programme is on the development of responsibility and self-awareness.
Treatment style is less structured and intensive than primary care, allowing clients more freedom to interact within their communities, facilitating the transition from institution to everyday living. The programme consists of a combination of daily group therapy sessions, individual counselling, educational workshops, exercise, family workshops, re-integration activities and aftercare.
The facility includes:
- Swimming pool
- Television lounge with satellite TV
Tertiary Care Centre
Research shows the longer people stay in a structured environment, the higher the chances of successfully breaking their dependency and preventing relapse.
The tertiary care programme offers communal living in a friendly recovery-based environment. Clients in tertiary care take full responsibility for their daily activities, as it is compulsory to vacate the premises during the working weekday. Weekly group meetings are held and residents are required to join 12 step programmes and groups.
Communal living is a key success factor of tertiary care, as fellow housemates provide an essential support system for the recovering person. The tertiary programme offers a residential home for both women and men in suburban Portugal.
Facilities include:
- Beautiful gardens
- Television lounge with satellite TV
